Yes. You sign-up for the activities you want in the afternoon. This allows you to do the things you want to do. During most morning periods we assign campers so that we are sure you try all the fun stuff at camp. Additionally, we have special free choice days throughout the summer.

Our campers tell us they love it. At every meal there is plenty of choice so you can always find something you like. At breakfast there is always a main course (such as French toast or eggs) plus hot and cold cereal, yogurt and a fruit bar. At lunch, main courses include chicken tenders, grilled cheese, and sandwiches, plus there is always a large salad and soup bar. Dinners include pizza, pasta, hamburgers, tacos, and a Friday night barbecue, along with a large salad bar. There are also vegetarian options at every meal. Additionally, every summer we have campers with food allergies (such as peanut and gluten).

You will have the option to go on biking, hiking and river trips that are fun and exciting. It doesn’t matter if you have never done them before—we will teach you everything you need to know to have a great time. You will go on a trip about once a week. Some of the cool things you may experience include:

River Trips

  • Rafting on the Kennebec River in Maine
  • Canoeing/kayaking/camping on the Androscoggin, Saco, Connecticut, Pemi, and Rapid Rivers, and on Newfound and Umbagog Lakes

Mountain Trips

  • Day hiking on Mt. Moosilauke, Cube, Cardigan, Smarts, Ascutney
  • Mountain biking right from camp on miles of roads and trails
  • Mountain biking on the Green Woodlands Trails in Dorchester, NH
  • Rock climbing and bouldering at the world famous crags in Rumney, NH

  • Going to a drive-in movie

Yes. Besides normal days with activity periods, and trip days, we also have special days, like:

  • Carnival: where every cabin makes a booth, and the boys play games for prizes
  • Red and Grey: where we divide the whole camp into two teams that play each other in every activity possible—from basketball to fire building to a canoe regatta to a fishing derby
  • Capture the Flag: where we play this traditional game Camp-wide for an afternoon
  • Competition days: where all age groups have an opportunity to play peer camps in a wide range of sports
  • Co-ed days: where we have activities and a barbecue with neighboring girls’ camps

Many boys, when they first come to Camp, don’t know anyone else. But that doesn’t last long. By the end of the first day you will know everyone in your cabin and many other kids, too. By the end of your time at Moose you will know every kid in camp!

Five to twelve other boys who are your age, plus two to four counselors. Your bunkmates will come from all over. There may be someone from your town, a state very far away, or from another country.

Picking a camp is not easy. Sometimes they all seem the same. We recommend that you first look through our web site, photo and video galleries. Then, get your parents to call or email us so you can attend a gathering where you would meet Bill or Sabina and returning campers and parents.
