Health & Safety

Moosilauke’s secluded facilities, extensive counselor training, and caring and skilled personnel create an extremely safe and healthy camp environment and program.

Medical Care

Two full time nurses are always in-residence, a local doctor is always on call, and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, one of the top medical facilities in New England, is only thirty minutes away. The Camp has a multi-room infirmary located on the edge of the campus and a nurse’s station right in the heart of our facility.

Staff Training

All counselors attend an extensive eight-day training session prior to the start of Camp. Topics covered include behavior and discipline protocols, tripping safety, conflict resolution, working with homesickness, emergency procedures, and how to build caring and professional relationships with campers. In addition, all counselors complete a certification course in CPR and receive training in First Aid. In addition, over half the staff are certified lifeguards and all outdoor trip leaders are certified as Wilderness First Responders.

Residential Facilities

As opposed to some camps whose cabins are in close proximity to (or on) public roads, Moosilauke’s residential facilities are safely situated acres away from public access on two secluded hills.
